Americans may be cutting back on super-sized meals, but waistlines continue to expand from more frequent eating, according to a study released on June 29.
New research from Serbia has raised hopes on the antioxidant benefits and shelflife extension properties of a sugar beet fiber derived ingredient when added to biscuits.
A new study at Granada University in Spain indicates the advice to quench the thirst after exercise with a sports beverage or water may have been wrong. Manuel Garzon, who led the research team, suggests the bubbles in beer help quench thirst at the same time the carbohydrate content helps replace lost calories.
"The effectiveness of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) as a weight-loss nutraceutical continues to be debatable, suggesting that there may be value in exploring the physiological effects of the lesser-known isomers.
"A fortified beverage powder intended for developing countries was composed of vitamins, minerals, sugar and orange flavor. Organic acids were also added as food additive," investigators in Laval, Canada, report.
