Zagat has completed its first survey to delve into the coffee-drinking habits of American consumers; they’ve discovered that even in the worst of the economic crisis, coffee lovers are loathe to sacrifice their beany brew.
Scientists at the University of Texas and the University of Iowa have created a synthetic bacteria that grows thanks to one of humankind's favorite stimulants -- caffeine.

The bacteria can be added to any caffeinated beverage, and it will grow according to the levels of caffeine in the drink.
Coffee continues to be a favorite among beverage drinkers, particularly among Hispanic consumers.

The study, which began tracking ethnic data last year, found that 76% of adult Hispanics said they drank coffee yesterday, 13 percentage points ahead of the total population.
