Jorgen Kokke, executive vice president, global specialties and president of North America, and Jim Zallie, Ingredion’s president and CEO, officially unveiled the company’s latest state-of-the-art plant-based protein manufacturing facility in South Sioux City, Neb., with members from the company’s senior management team as well as its board of directors. The newly opened facility will produce high-quality protein isolates primarily for the nutrition, health and wellness categories.
“We’re excited to take this next step to further advance our specialties strategy and capitalize on the global trends shaping the food industry,” said Zallie. “As demand for food and beverages with plant-based proteins continues to grow, our South Sioux City location will significantly expand our product portfolio providing more innovative solutions to our customers.”
By the end of 2020, the company has invested $185 million to expand its portfolio of plant-based proteins, which bolsters its ability to enable on-trend, consumer-preferred innovation. This latest facility further expands the company’s broad range of plant-based protein solutions that are 100% sustainably sourced from North American farms supporting the increased global consumer demand.
