Study shows chicory root fibers selectively increase Bifidobacteria independent of food application, matrix

A recently published study conducted by researchers from The Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences University of Reading (UK), in collaboration with the BENEO-Institute, demonstrates that prebiotic chicory root fibers support the selective growth of Bifidobacteria in the human gut, no matter which food application and food matrix in which they are used.
According to a 2020 Probiotic Survey by the FMCG Gurus research arm of M&R Insights Ltd., the number of consumers in North American stating that they purchased probiotic products in the 12-month pre-Pandemic period between 2018 and 2020 rose from 45% to 61%.
