Anderson Global Group announced that it plans to launch its AllSweet™ Low-Calorie Sugar.

Consumer awareness on the benefits of eating healthy food has prompted manufacturers to look for low-calorie ingredients, and maltodextrin has emerged as a suitable alternative.

At EXPOMilano2015, food and nutrition was discussed during the international meeting "Back to Basics" which was attended by doctors, scientists and senior figures from around the world. Attendees included the Australian Robert Gibson, the Italian Carlo La Vecchia, Briton Sumantra Ray, the South African Christine Venter, the Swiss Luc Tappy and the Israeli Raanan Shamir.

A recent study performed by the Hudson Institute found that although supermarkets are gaining the majority of their food and beverage sales growth, 59 %, from lower-calorie products, they are not fully capitalizing on the growing demand for lower-calorie products found by recent CPG and restaurant industry studies.

"If we all lived on grass-fed beef, dry-cured bacon, fresh sustainable fish, nuts, pulses, wholegrain bread, good olive oil, eggs and dairy, more fresh vegetables, less fruit, and no sugar or fast food ever, we would save billions personally and nationally," says Dr Ian White, an intensive care specialist.

Yoplait Original will roll out a 25 percent sugar reduction in cups in March. The news was announced at the annual Consumer Analyst Group of New York conference in Boca Raton, Florida
