Driven by the global rise of obesity, diabetes, and other health concerns, alternative sweeteners have gained a 12% share of the $73.4 billion global market for sweeteners and 22% of its volume by sucrose equivalent (SE), according to Lux Research.

Each year Men's Health recognizes the best packaged foods for men in their annual list of "Best Foods For Men" and once again, Eggland's Best has been honored. This year Eggland's Best Organic eggs have been awarded the title of "Best Eggs" in the Dairy category.
In a study of lunches brought from home at elementary and middle schools in the Houston area, researchers at the USDA/ARS Children’s Nutrition Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital found that the lunches did not meet National School Lunch Program guidelines. Their report appears in JAMA Pediatrics.

As public schools strive to follow new national guidelines in offering breakfast and lunch to their students, a nutrition leader who helped develop those guidelines provides perspective on a new study analyzing the other lunches—those that children bring from home.
Advent International, one of the largest and most experienced global private equity investors, today announced that it has acquired Noosa Yoghurt, LLC, a fast-growing leader in the yoghurt category. Noosa’s executive team remains in place and has retained a significant minority ownership position in the company. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
To put the market for kids' food and beverage in context, it is estimated that retail sales of all food and beverages in the U.S. will reach $639 billion with kids' food and beverages accounting for roughly 3.5% of sales. In 2013, total value of kids' food and beverage is estimated to be worth $23.2 billion.
