Cannabis beverage brand CQ, originally known as Cannabis Quencher, is re-entering the Washington market by teaming up with local manufacturer Swifts.
CQ originally launched in Washington’s medical market in 2014, where it was awarded the Dope Cup for Best Cannabis Beverage. Ten years later, CQ is returning with new, exclusive flavors for The Evergreen State.
Available in Washington dispensaries in early June, CQ is arriving in time for summer with its tropically-inspired, 2-oz. 100 mg THC shots. The shots are made with real juice and no artificial flavors or colors. Consumers can choose from indica, sativa and hybrid options, with all containing only 26 calories and 7 grams of sugar.
Nationwide fan favorites such as Strawberry Lemonade and Nighttime Berry Lime will complement new flavors exclusive to Washington for a limited time, including Watermelon Lemonade, Mango Lemonade and Concord Grape.
Swifts is known for confectionery treats such as Ganache Chocolate Truffles and Milk Chocolate PB Cups. In tandem with relaunching CQ, Swifts is set to launch Crunchy Munchies and Stellar Bites, its own infused takes on candy bar classics.
“The Washington drink market is very mature and highly competitive,” said Jordan McAulay, Swifts sales director. “However, we feel it lacks what a lot of Washington consumers are looking for – a low-sugar drink option made from real fruit juice. CQ has a long track record of success. They make great products that are extremely well branded and check all of the boxes. I think consumers and retailers alike are going to really enjoy what this product line brings to the market.”
Since the California brand entered Massachusetts’ dispensary market in the summer of 2022, CQ has experienced growth in sales and notoriety. After its expansion into Illinois and Michigan, CQ received a proposal from the Swifts team to re-enter Washington.
“Five states and 10 years later, here we are again. It feels like a return to our roots,” says CQ Founder Kenny Morrison. “Washington consumers buy more cannabis lemonade than any other state in the country so we are stoked to be back with special flavors for our old friends and fans.”
