Ingredion Incorporated used SupplySide West 2023 (SSW) to showcase creative new ways to add protein and fiber, reduce sugars, and help food and beverage manufacturers reimagine innovation to grow consumer preference.
Booth visitors spoke with subject matter experts and sampled a selection of prototypes highlighting how beverage, gummy, snack and baked good brands can help foster nutritious and delicious eating experiences.
• Reduced-sugar, gelatin-free gummies – sweet taste, texture and color complement each other in this plant-based gummy base, featuring Ingredion’s PURECIRCLE™ Clean Taste Confectionery Solution and Kerr by Ingredion’s Sour cherry and red beet juice concentrates.
• Sports drink - this refreshing beverage is sure to hydrate. It features ASTRAEA® Allulose, PURECIRCLE™ Bioconverted Reb M stevia and Kerr by Ingredion’s Clarified lemon juice.
• Protein-enhanced brownie – Ingredion’s 2023 proprietary “All About Protein” consumer research reveals that 70% U.S. consumers are actively seeking protein in their diet. To demonstrate how manufactures can enhance protein in baked goods, Ultra-Performance VITESSENCE® Prista P 360 faba bean protein and VITESSENCE Pulse 1853 pea protein isolate bring seven grams of protein per serving to the brownie, along with NUTRAFLORA® p-95 scFOS for fiber.
• Mosaic truffle – combining indulgence with added plant protein and lower levels of sugar on the label, this snack prototype contains Ingredion’s Pea and Rice Isolate 1780, PURECIRCLE Bioconverted Reb M stevia and ASTRAEA Allulose.
• High protein Ready-To-Mix beverage – Purposefully developed with a vanilla flavoring to plainly demonstrate how 20 grams of protein, a desirable taste and texture, plus sweetness and 0 grams of sugar on the label, can be achieved with Ingredion’s Pea and Rice Isolate 1780.
