Diabetes Care
Heartland Food Products Group, Carmel, Ind., said its new Splenda Diabetes Care Shakes debuted last fall at Walgreens stores nationwide. The expansion comes on the heels of a regional launch in June 2020.
Officials said Splenda Diabetes Care Shakes serve as a meal or snack replacement and come with 60% more protein (than the leading diabetes shake) and key ingredients needed for diabetes management. Each shake contains 16g of protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. Splenda Diabetes Care Shakes also are high in fiber, soy free, gluten free and suitable for lactose intolerance.
The line is available in three flavors: Milk Chocolate, French Vanilla and Strawberry Banana.
Each shake comes in an 8oz bottle and is available in six-packs in stores and online (MSRP $9.99+) and 24-packs online only (MSRP $29.99+).
Immune Boost
Cibo Vita Inc., Totowa, N.J., extended its Nature’s Garden line with Fruit Balls: Immune Booster, billed as a “super-snack” with minerals, vitamins and probiotics.
Fruit Balls: Immune Booster comes with 70 balls in a 20oz resealable pouch. The product is available in club stores in Florida, California and Illinois, priced at $8.98 per pouch, as well as on naturesgarden.net and amazon.com.
Ingredients include coconut flakes, apple juice, date paste, pear puree, strawberry puree, dried cranberries, dried blueberries, dry roasted almond and walnuts, dry roasted sunflower seeds and pepitas, flax seeds, elderberry extract, and Lactobacillus Rhamnosus GG Probiotics. Officials say a five-piece serving includes 5 bn probiotics, 3g protein, 6g fat, 3g fiber, 15mg zinc, 20mcg vitamin D, 90mg vitamin C and 160 calories.
Other Nature’s Garden offerings include Probiotic Keto Snack Mix, Choconut Keto Mix, Omega-3 Deluxe Mix, and Probiotic Keto Variety Snack Packs, a two-in-one snack variety pack.
Protein Snacks
Sixty-six percent of American adults say they are snacking more at home, and more than half choosing better-for-you snacks and meal solutions more often than they would have prior to the pandemic. That’s why Nature’s Bounty Co., Ronkonkoma, N.Y., says it has expanded beyond sports nutrition and into the broader snacking category with new Pure Protein Puffs and Cookie Sandwiches (pictured)
“Quality protein is essential to a healthy, balanced diet, and we’re thrilled to offer our consumers exciting new formats and flavors based on some of their favorite, traditional snacks,” says Kent Cunningham, general manager, Sports & Active Nutrition at The Nature’s Bounty.
Pure Protein Puffs and Cookie Sandwiches are Non-GMO and free of gluten and artificial flavors, colors and sweeteners. Pure Protein Puffs come in two flavors: Nacho Cheese and Brick Oven Pizza. For those who crave a soft and chewy treat, Pure Protein Cookie Sandwiches are a good source of fiber and protein. They also come in two flavors: Snickerdoodle and Double Chocolate.
