Tea Time
Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), the major catechin in green tea, is associated with reduced risk of cancer; improved gastrointestinal and cardiovascular health, glucose metabolism; and alleviation of allergies and arthritis. EGCG affects oral hygiene, fat oxidation and energy expenditure. Teavigo[tm], a highly potent green tea extract by DSM Nutritional Products Inc., has 94% EGCG compared to 5% in green tea leaves and 32% in other tea extracts. The caffeine content of Teavigo is less than 0.1%. While green tea extract can be bitter with a lasting aftertaste, Teavigo tastes close to neutral. DSM Nutritional Products Inc., www.dsm.com
