Already known for organic and non-GMO fruit snacks and cookies, Tasty Brand Inc., Los Angeles, now offers what it says are the first Sandwich Crème Cookies both certified USDA organic and verified non-GMO by the Non-GMO Project.
The line debuts in time for back-to-school lunches with “five inventive, playful flavors inspired by old-fashioned dessert treats,” say founders Liane Weintraub and Shannan Swanson. Varieties include Vanilla Cupcake, Chocolate Layer Cake, Strawberry Shortcake, Banana Split and Peanut Butter Cup. Four flavors are vegan (except Strawberry Shortcake).
“Our new Sandwich Crème Cookies are both classic and modern at the same time,” says Co-founder and CEO, Liane Weintraub. “The nostalgic flavors take you back to a cherished time. The organic attributes and absence of artificial ingredients are what today’s consumers want for their families, and it’s what Tasty Brand stands for.”
Tasty Brand says it spent more than a year developing the flavors in close collaboration with Dwight Richmond, Whole Foods Market’s global grocery purchasing coordinator.
“Sandwich crème cookies are an American classic, but they haven’t always been the cleanest in terms of ingredients,” says Richmond. “We’re excited to offer five new fresh-from-the-bake-shop flavors without all of the artificial additives, that our shoppers can enjoy and feel good about sharing with the whole family.”
The line is available exclusively at Whole Foods Market through April 2015. Throughout August, Tasty Brand says it also will partner with Organic Valley on “milk-and-cookies” demos at Whole Foods locations nationwide.
