Mac and cheese has grown up. That’s how McCain Foods USA describes new Brew City beer-battered Mac n’ Jack Brew Bites. Officials cite industry research to say mac n' cheese is offered across a broad base of restaurant types and is growing in overall popularity across restaurant menus—with a 20% increase in penetration (percentage of restaurants featuring) in 2012 vs. 2008 (involving U.S. chains and independents). McCain says its new offering features elbow macaroni and creamy Pepper Jack cheese, mixed with bacon bits and dipped in a pale ale beer batter. McCain plans a mid-January product launch and says the product is ideal for all full-service restaurant segments.
