Continental’s food-coating applications include starch and flour based coatings and batters for potato and poultry products in addition to other “protein and vegetable type substrates,” according to Newly Weds. The deal includes a 55,000 sq. ft. processing plant in Pendleton, Ore., and assets associated directly with this business.
“The industrial food coating business purchased from Continental Mills today is consistent with Newly Weds Foods’ coating expertise and industry-leading position,” said Charles Angell, Newly Weds' president. “We see long term benefits arising from inherent values in proprietary products, new product technologies, access to key areas of distribution, an expanded customer base and additional manufacturing capacity,” he concluded.
