"This acquisition offers significant benefits to our customers by providing direct access to natural essences and extracts that greatly enhance our capability to serve the growing demand for natural flavorings," comments Roderick W. Sowders, president and CEO of Synergy Flavors. "In addition to innovative technologies, I believe Sensus' access to the food service sector will open new commercial possibilities for Synergy's flavor portfolio. Sensus' customers will also benefit from the additional flavor expertise and global reach of the Synergy organization."
"I've been impressed by the significant overlaps we have found between Sensus' process technologies and Synergy's technical platforms," comments Dr. Daniel Wampler, founder of Sensus and now division president. "Additionally, I look forward to expanding the Sensus technologies to a broader range of products and geographies."
The acquisition of Sensus follows Synergy's acquisition of Vanlab, where direct access to vanilla bean growers is the key to development of high quality extracts. Sensus also works closely with growers to manage the quality of its horticultural raw materials, in order to deliver the highest quality essences and extracts, while optimizing the health benefit attributes of each product. Synergy is already well-known as a supplier of innovative flavors for beverage, bakery, confectionary, dairy, and nutritional products. Business operations for Sensus will remain in Hamilton, Ohio.
