March 26/Alexandria, Va./U.S. Fed News -- The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has assigned a patent to Mead Johnson Nutrition for "probiotic stabilization." Publication number WO/2011/035093 was published on March 24.

The title of the invention was "probiotic stabilization," and its applicant was Mead Johnson Nutrition Co. (U.S.), with Nagendra Rangavajla the inventor.

According to the abstract posted by the WIPO, the patent is for "an ingestible composition including a probiotic contained in a mixture of hydrolyzed mammalian protein, one or more carbohydrates and a compound binder useful for nutrition of infants and children."

The patent was filed on September 17, 2010, under application number PCT/US2010/049225.
