January 24/Hong Kong/China Knowledge Newswire -- China Resources Enterprise Ltd., an investment arm of China Resources Group, plans to set up a joint venture in China with Kirin Beer, one of the leading brewers in Japan, local media reported.

Both parties are currently in talks on the details about the cooperation such as the capital size and shareholding structure, according to the source.

Kirin Beer, founded in 1907, is primarily engaged in the businesses of liquor, drink, food and medicine. Kirin (China) Investment Co Ltd, which operates as Kirin Beer's subsidiary in China, is mainly responsible for the production and sale of breweries in the Chinese market. China Resources Enterprise, a member of China Resources Group, focuses on consumer businesses in mainland China and Hong Kong. The company has teamed with London-based SABMiller plc to own China Resources Snow Breweries Ltd, one of the leading breweries in China.
