September 28/ADP News Netherlands -- Anglo-Dutch consumer goods group Unilever has agreed to acquire the ice cream brands of Greek dairy firm EVGA, without providing financial details.
The related distribution network for brands including Scandal, Variete and Karabola is also part of the agreement, as well as the relocation of 65 employees. The proposed acquisition is subject to approval by the Greek regulatory authorities.
EVGA will keep all storage and production facilities and will continue to produce its own ice cream brands and a number of Unilever brands for the domestic and foreign markets.
In 2009, EVGA's ice cream brands generated sales of 32 million euros ($43 million).
Unilever's Greek business, Elais Unilever Hellas, generated revenues of 598 million euros last year. The company has four production facilities in Greece and about 800 employees.
