August 18/Nordic Business Report -- Danish food ingredients and enzymes maker Danisco A/S said it has acquired the shares in the Cape Town, South Africa, ingredients solutions firm Research Solutions, in a drive to strengthen its business in the dairy segment.

The purchase price was not disclosed.

"With this acquisition we are creating a new centre of excellence for Danisco's dairy and frozen desserts activities in Sub-Saharan Africa," Soren Olsen, Danisco vice president, said.

The Research Solutions' premises are located close to Danisco's production and sales site in Cape Town and will be integrated into the facility.

Danisco established its first presence in South Africa in 2000 and has a total 61 employees in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
