Miller Brands U.K., the marketing and distribution business of SABMiller plc for the U.K., announced the appointment of Nick Miller as sales director. With almost 20 years of industry experience in sales, strategic projects and marketing with global brewer Coors and Bass, he brings sales experience and know-how to the Miller Brands U.K. team, the company noted in a press release.
Launched in July 2005, Miller Brands U.K. went live this month after an intensive start-up period. Throughout the start-up period, the company has been actively securing and deploying “an internationally savvy team of functional experts, all dedicated to bringing a fresh approach to the marketing and selling of the Miller Brands portfolio.” The Miller Brands "international 4-pack" premium portfolio is composed of Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Pilsner Urquell, Castle and Miller Genuine Draft, providing the on- and off-trade with “a unique offering, focused on delivering lager of the highest quality to the market,” the company noted. Miller Brands has dedicated an initial investment of 30 million pounds ($52 million) over the next two years, signaling the company's determination to increase its share of the premium beer market.

Physical distribution commenced in October 2005 when Miller Brands took over responsibility for Pilsner Urquell, Castle Lager and Peroni Nastro Azzurro (on-trade), importing directly from Italy, Czech Republic and South Africa. Miller Genuine Draft will follow in January 2006. The company is based at SABMiller House.
