Sun Valley Foods, a division of Cargill Limited, announced it has purchased Caravelle Foods, an award-winning business which produces frozen beef patties for the Canadian quick service restaurant industry. The acquisition involves both Caravelle locations: one in Spruce Grove, Alberta, and the other in Brampton, Ontario, employing approximately 120 people.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
"Since January 2002, we have been supplying further processed chicken products to the Canadian foodservice industry. With this acquisition, we are looking forward to expanding our protein offerings," said David Andrzejewski, managing director for Sun Valley Foods.
"This acquisition will allow Sun Valley Foods to dramatically increase our ability to provide customer solutions across the country from a number of different locations and across a broader spectrum of products. We are becoming a truly trans-Canadian company."
