Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) and Johnson Cooperative Grain Company Inc. have formed Skyland Grain, LLC, a joint venture. Skyland Grain will operate the local grain, agronomy and petroleum divisions of the two companies, effective August 1, 2004. Under the terms of the agreement, Skyland Grain will operate both ADM's and Johnson's facilities in Big Bow, Johnson and Manter, Kansas, in addition to Johnson's facilities in Walsh, Saunders and Buckeye, Colo.

"We are pleased to be partnering with Johnson Cooperative and to be utilizing their strength in grain origination and operations," stated Lew Batchelder, ADM senior vice president -- Grain and Transportation. "Skyland Grain's customers will also be able to benefit from ADM's advantageous position in the farm supply business, as well as our extensive experience in grain marketing and transportation."

Skyland Grain will be headquartered in Johnson, Kansas. Tom Ryan, general manager -- Johnson Cooperative Grain Company will be the Skyland Grain general manager.
