The European Food Safety Authority said it cannot accept an "inadequate" report by a French scientist on a link between cancer and genetically modified corn.
Scientists in France have published a controversial study reporting that rats fed corn that was engineered to withstand spraying with the herbicide Roundup developed health problems, including tumors and trouble with their livers and kidneys.
Supporters and producers of organic foods petitioned the U.S. government for mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods, and encouraged consumers to go online and join the cause.
