Texans voted and a whopping 79% selected as its first ever, state-exclusive, big, bold Texas sized flavor… Bourbon Pecan Pie.
Ben & Jerry’s brought Texans two of their biggest and boldest flavors as part of the ice cream company’s first “Texas Churned” summer tour and asked fans to vote for their favorite. Does the winner pack a punch like Bar-B-Que Peach with its ancho chili caramel swirl? Or is it more on the sweet southern side like Bourbon Pecan Pie with shortbread cookie pieces? “Both are equally delicious and rich in chunks and swirls,” said Flavor Guru and Texas flavor creator, Eric Fredette.
Ben & Jerry’s sampled the two flavors this summer over a four city tour which included Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston. Fans tweeted the truck to stop by, tried the concoctions, and cast their vote at benjerry.com/texaschurned. It was a close race at the start between the two custom developed flavors, but in the second half of the tour Bourbon Pecan Pie took the lead, and never looked back as it claimed the spot as Texas’ Top Pick.
Ben & Jerry’s ice cream has sold pints and scooped ice cream in Texas for well over 20 years. The ice cream maker proudly partnered with iconic Texan Willie Nelson for the musician’s own Country Peach Cobbler flavor from 2007-2014. Last year Ben & Jerry’s created the two Texas-inspired flavors at a music festival in Irving, TX and the response from ice cream fans was amazing. Texans spoke, so Ben & Jerry’s answered by bringing back the two Texas-exclusive flavors being featured on this year’s four-month long summer tour.
