It’s an artisan twist on the ice cream sandwich. All-natural ice cream producer L.A. Creamery LLC, Chatsworth, Calif., partnered with L.A.s’ Umami Restaurant Group to create three flavors of donut ice cream sandwiches.
The new “Sammies” line includes Chocolate Peanut Butter donut with Chocolate Ganache ice cream; a Cinnamon and Chocolate donut with Cinnamon Toast Crunch ice cream; and a Jelly Donut with PB&J ice cream. The new desserts are exclusively available at Umami Burger locations in Southern California and New York City. Officials say new varieties will include Apple Fritter with L.A. Creamery’s Madagascar Vanilla ice cream; a Peanut Butter and Banana donut with Banana ice cream, called “The Elvis;” and seasonal offerings.
“L.A. Creamery is the modern artisanal successor to brands like Ben & Jerry’s and Haagen-Dazs,” says L.A. Creamery co-owner Adam Fleischman. Fleischman also is founder and CEO of Umami Burger.
