July 15/Tokyo/Asia Pulse -- Japan's Ajinomoto Co. has teamed up with leading U.S. cereal maker Kellogg Co. to develop health food products, including a low-calorie cereal containing a chili pepper substance that burns fat.
The firms plan to commercialize the products in two to three years.
In addition to weight management, their R&D cooperation will also cover sodium and sugar reduction.
Ajinomoto's laboratory in the city of Kawasaki and Kellogg's research center in the state of Michigan will periodically share their research results . The jointly developed products are expected to be sold in the European and U.S. markets, where obesity has drawn increasing attention recently.
