December 5/ Food Service Director -- Schwan's Food Service Inc. announced a culinary honor, along with two new hires. Executive chef Christian "Kit" Kiefer was named an executive in residence at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. In this role, Kiefer will guest lecture, interact with faculty and serve as counsel to students.

In addition, Michael Pennella and Elisa Verhille have joined the company. Pennella, who most recently was senior vice president of prepared foods for Pilgrim's Pride,was hired as senior vice president and general manager of national accounts. Verhille was hired as customer marketing director; she most recently had worked for Basic American Foods.
