January 10/Investrend -- Nils Lommerin has been appointed chief operating officer Del Monte Foods Co. He joined Del Monte in 2003 as executive vice president of human resources, and assumed his role as EVP of operations in 2004. Before joining Del Monte, Lommerin served as EVP of operations and corporate services at Oxford Health Plans.

Prior to that, Lommerin held various positions at PepsiCo and Kraft Foods. In his new position, Lommerin will assume responsibility for the company's marketing divisions, and continue to oversee its research and development, operations and supply chain.

San Francisco-based Del Monte Foods is a producer, distributor and marketer of branded food and pet products for the U.S. retail market that posted more than $3.4 billion in net sales in fiscal 2007.
